Wisdom/bit
of advice/quote: Make
sure you understand that the Lord provides for what He
wants in your life. If He has not provided, then really
pray to see if He has that for you. How are you gifted?
Plug-in and do as the Lord provides. That goes not only
personally, but as a church also. (i.e. if you don't have
drums on your worship team, maybe the Lord has other
plans.) Don't force in your own understanding and desires.
(Proverbs 3:5-6)
Educational
& Ministry History: B.S. in Christian Ministries, Roanoke
Bible College. I have held youth ministries in North
Carolina and Virginia. I have worked with contractors,
businesses, and with a museum in construction and
fabrication for the last 20 plus years. I have been worship
pastor for Christ's Church since it was birthed in 1994. It
has been a growing and exciting experience following the
Lord's leading in what gifts He has given the church in the
areas of worship. I look forward to the experiences to come
with His guiding.
My
Role: My position as
worship pastor is different than you would first think.
Most would see the position as one who leads, plays the
music, and directs a choir (i.e. a music director). I see
the position as striving to seek ideas that bring the body
into worship, not only on Sunday mornings, but in every day
life.
Fun
Stuff: I enjoy wood
working; playing, singing, and listening to music; as well
as spending time with the family (although the boys are all
growing up and leaving home).
Favorites:
Living out in the country,
being around the wood stove during the cold, and being
snowed in (which doesn't happen much). Watching the boys
play around and listening to Mac play guitar. A good steak
cooked "Pittsburgh," and the Hokies.
Where I'm
at: It is so cool being
able to look back at your life and see how the Lord has
moved in your life. So how has He for me? One big area is
striving to make God's desire for my life, my desire. I'm
still not perfect, and will continue to make mistakes.
But WOW, the path is easier to see when looking
back. Just looking forward to see where He leads in the
future.
